We are exited to announce the panel discussion ‘Women Under Genocide: The Gendered Impact of Starvation in Gaza’ with Miftah at the University of Copenhagen.
In this panel discussion Riham Al Faqih, Sara El Khatib and Johara Baker will share and discuss their latest documentation on starvation as a weapon of genocide, while critically examining Western feminist frameworks in the wake of the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. They will especially offer a critical analyze of the position of “the Nordic countries, long seen as global pioneers of feminist foreign policy and gender equality, which offer a complex and strategic space for intervention.”
Miftah is an independent Palestinian NGO working internationally in advocating for political action for Palestine through a decolonial, intersectional and feminist lens.
The organisation has been active for over two decades now working on “issues of democracy, good governance and social justice and to ensure civil rights and freedoms within the Palestinian political system are protected.” Additionally they are working “on empowering women and youth and including them in the decision-making through elections by providing training, and workshops while holding dialogue with national stakeholders and influencing various policies, like the family protection bill, across Palestine, both in the occupied West Bank including Jerusalem and Gaza.”
Dalia Kababo will be moderator of the panel discussion.
We are very exited to welcome and host Miftah, and we hope to see you.
The event is free of cost.
