Talk Overview:
As the situation in Gaza continues to worsen, the EU’s role is under growing scrutiny. Spain recently pushed back against the EU’s stagnant policy inertia, calling for an end to Israel’s blockade and a return to principled action on human rights. This talk explores:
The ethics of academic boycotts: Do they promote justice, or merely serve symbolic gestures?
The EU’s foreign policy dilemmas: Can countries like Spain and Ireland lead on Palestine amid institutional deadlock?
The role of academia in contexts of war, occupation, and systemic injustice.
We’ll unpack what complicity and responsibility mean in a world of complex research collaborations, especially for those involved in programs like Horizon Europe.
🌍 Whether you’re a student, academic, activist, or simply concerned about human rights, this event offers a timely and urgent conversation.
